NATURAL SCIENCE - Help to study

Hi kids!
Here you have some typical questions that we use in the class. You can use this material to study.
See you on Monday!

Body systems

What is the body?
The body is like a complex machine. It has a lot of parts that work together

What are the most important parts of the body?
The organs are the most important parts of the body.

Circulatory system

What are the main parts of the circulatory system?
The main parts of the circulatory system are the arteries, the veins and the heart.

How does the circulatory system work?
The circulatory system moves blood through the heart and around the body.

How many parts has the heart?
The heart has four parts: the left atrium, the right atrium, the left ventricle and the right ventricle

Respiratory system

What is the respiratory system?
The respiratory system is a group of organs that help us breathe

What are the main organs of the respiratory system?
The main organs of the respiratory system are the nose, the mouth and the lungs

What organs do you use to breathe in air?
I breathe in air with the nose and the mouth

What happens with the air later?
The air goes down to our lungs

What happens with the oxygen in the lungs?
The oxygen is passed to the circulatory system

What do you breathe in?
We breathe in oxygen

What do you breathe out?
We breathe out carbon dioxide

Digestive system

What is the digestive system?
The digestive system is a group of organs that help us digest food

What are the main organs of the digestive system?
The main organs of the digestive system are the mouth, the stomach and the intestine

What organ do you use to eat food?
We eat food with the mouth

What happens with the food then?
The food passes down to the stomach and the intestine

What does the intestine do with the food?
The intestine separates the nutrients from the waste and expels the waste from our body

What happens with the nutrients then?
The nutrients are passed to the circulatory system

The senses

What is the brain?
The brain is the control centre of the body.

Why are the senses so important?
Because the senses tell us about the world around us. They allow to interact with the environment.

The sense of sight

What are the eyes?
The eyes are the organs of sight

What can you see with your eyes?
I can see different colours, shapes and sizes

What colour are the iris and the pupil?
The pupil is black but the iris can be different colours.

How are the eyes protected?
The eyes are protected by the eyebrows, eyelashes and the eyelids.

The sense of hearing

What are the ears?
The ears are the organs of hearing

What can you hear with your ears?
We can hear loud sounds and quiet sounds

How many parts have the ears? What are they?
Our ears have three parts, the outer earm the middle ear and the inner ear.

What is the earwax?
The earwax is a sticky substance inside our ear canal. It protects our ears from dirt and infection.

The sense of smell

What is the nose?
The nose is the organ we use to smell

Where does the air enter through?
The air enters the nose through the nostrils

What does the olfactory nerve do?
The olfactory nerve sends information to the brain.

How many odours can you smell, more or less?
You can smell about ten thousand (10.000) odours

The sense of taste

What is the tongue?
Our tongue is the organ we use to taste

How do you identify the tastes?
We identify the tastes with the taste buds.

What do the nerves in the tongue do?
The nerves in the tongue send information about the different tastes to our brain.

What basic tastes can you identify?
Sweet, salty, bitter and sour

The sense of touch

What is the skin?
The skin is the organ we use to touch

What can you feel when you touch something?
When you touch something you can feel if it’s soft, hard, hot, cold, rough or smooth.

What do the sensory nerves do?
The sensory nerves send the information to the brain
